Tip Tuesday!

How to make a Princess Wand:

This weeks tip I found at Zakka Life. They have a great tutorial on how to make a Princess Wand. As soon as I saw this project, I knew it would be perfect for my daughter who loves playing dress up and pretending. I think this project turns out adorable, and is fun to make. I think I'm still going to tie some cute ribbon to it in the morning.

I can't wait for Molly to try it out, she was sleeping when I made it tonight, so she'll get a chance to play with it in the morning. It will go perfect with the adorable costumes she got for her birthday. (Thanks Marsh's)

Sew Something Saturday!

It seems like I'm always grabbing a tissue these days. Whether it's a cold, or two year old tantrum, or cutting teeth, my daughters nose is always running lately.

I saw this adorable tutorial at Stardust Shoes for a Tissue Holder. I just knew I had to give it a try, and I am so glad I did. I absolutely love how these turn out. I made this cute flower one to throw in my daughters diaper bag. But I am definitely going to have to make some to match all my purses for the winter.

Top: Tissues in my new cloth holder = Super Cute :)
Bottom: Tissues in old plasic holder = Not So Cute

Toddler Time Thursday!

For Molly's birthday, she got a playdoh set with scissors in it. She was so excited to have more playdoh, and I was SO excited to have some scissors for her to start practicing with.

This is a really hard skill, I really thought she would get frustrated with it, but she was really enjoying working on cutting the "hot dogs" I made out of playdoh. This is going to take a lot of practice, but I am so excited that she is getting to work on so many new skills.

ABC & 123 has a lot of great cutting activities, and pre-cutting activities on there site. Check them out, they have really helped give me ideas on how to work on fine motor skills.

Puppy Party!

Molly turns two this week! So today we had her birthday party with my side of the family and some good friends. Molly LOVES all things to do with dogs, so we threw her a puppy party.

These are the invitations we made. There is a great video that shows you how to make them over at Activity TV.

I always make a birthday banner, this one the paper has little dog bones on it, even though you can't see them in the picture.

It was hard to find girly puppy plates and napkins that I liked. I for some reason am kind of creeped out by the dogs with giant heads, lol, and that is what is popular in party decor. But I really liked these plates, and we could theme colored balloon and such with them.

The food was really fun, I forgot to get pictures of the food before we ate, whoopsies, but we had...
-Hot Dogs
-Baked Beans and Chips
-Finger Jello cut into dog bones and puppies
-Noodle Salad
-Scooby Snacks and Puppy Chow in dog bowls.

And we made these cute puppy cupcakes.

Thanks to everyone who came to the party, Molly had the best time. :)

Sew Something Saturday!

I am very happy to say, that "Sew Something Saturday" is finally back!!! YEAH!!!

Now that I think my hyperemesis is finally a bit more under control, I headed down to my sewing machine ( I sure have missed it) and got busy with my super long list of projects. I made enough last night, for the next 6 Saturdays, hehe. So I am very happy that "Sew Something Saturday" is back to stay for a while.

I made these really cute burp rags for a friend's baby shower I am going to this morning. I have tried many different styles of burp rags, but the great tutorial I found at A Chelsea Morning always turns out my favorite.

HAPPY SEWING, and as always, if you have any questions feel free to ask. :)

Wordless Wednesday!

First night sleeping in a big girl bed, and yes, I did break down and let her put as many blankets and animals in her bed for the night. She was so proud of it being, "Hers."

Tip Tuesday!

Yeah! Look at all the beautiful canned pears I made with my Grandma today. (Thanks so much Grandma!)

Today's tip is when you are canning or baking or knitting or whatever. Invest the help of someone who has been doing it for years. I got so many helpful and great tips from my Grandma today. It is so much better than learning from a book, and much more enjoyable!

Broccoli and Cauliflower Salad!

Hope everyone enjoyed a beautiful Labor Day! We went to a potluck with family, and had a great time. My favorite salad to bring is Brocooli and Cauliflower Salad. It is one of the only ways I actually enjoy the two veggies, so I thought I would share my recipe.

BROCCOLI AND CAULIFLOWER SALAD

Ingredients-
2 bunches broc. and caul. (total 8 cups)
10 slices chopped bacon
1 onion
1/3 cup golden raisins

Sauce Ingredients-
1 cup mayo
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp. cider vinegar
1/2 tsp. black pepper

Mix broccoli and cauliflower pieces with chopped up bacon, chopped up onion and raisins in bowl.
In a separate bowl stir together the mayo, sugar, cider vinegar and pepper for the sauce. Then pour sauce on top of first bowl of ingredients. Mix well, then refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.
